The desire for healthy hair is all wrapped up in our quest for a healthy body, healthy diet and healthy mind. How to achieve this is something I’m asked on the regular so I thought I’d write a post about it. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of having a great hair day and the positivity and confidence that go along with it.
Here’s my top tips on how to achieve healthy hair.
1. Avoid heat styling.
It’s an overused saying for a reason. Too much heat styling is damaging to hair, especially if it’s been coloured. Try to avoid blowdrying and using hot tools as much as possible by letting hair air- dry when possible and styling overnight heatless waves as an alternative. Twist hair from the middle part round the side of the face, to the nape of the next and securing with a tie or pins. When using tools is deemed necessary, use a heat protector like my Cocolicious Heat Defence Spray.
2. Don’t wash your hair everyday.
Important and easy… once you’re in a rhythm. If you wash your hair every day or every other day, you might struggle but try to push through, it’s worth it. By washing hair often, you strip it of natural oils which keep hair nourished. Try using a dry shampoo like the PSBG Big It Up, Volume Boosting Dry Shampoo before going to bed and you’ll achieve naturally voluminous locks overnight.
3. Argan Oil really is your best friend.
You can’t expect great hair without putting in a little extra TLC time. Inject a moisture hit using a hair mask or oil once a week. This will help smooth the hair follicle and avoid split ends and snagging. Through the mid lengths and ends of damp hair (avoiding the root) rub a pea sized amount of my Total Treat Transforming Argan oil using the palms of your hands in fluid downward motions.
4. Visit your hairdresser regularly for a trim.
It’s not a myth. Regular hair trims help encourage hair growth and keep hair looking and feeling healthy, thick and luscious.
