How to make your hair look thicker…

woman-on-grass-field-lifting-hands-2687016

How to get thicker hair is something I’m asked on the regular. With so many celebs and influencers sporting extensions, it’s no wonder lots of people feel their real hair is lacking in volume in comparison.

For truly thicker hair, keeping the condition hydrated and healthy with regular trims to shed the dead ends is the most important thing. Try to skip applying heat as this will have a negative impact on the quality of your hair and it’s ability to produce new healthy strands. Promoting hair growth through hydration will really help with this.

So what can you do in the mean time? Here’s a few insider tips to help.

Use a thickening cream upside down.
For maximum volume and lift, apply a pea sized amount of my Big It Up! Thickening cream from the roots to the ends of your hair. Do this with your head upside down as this will encourage the hair to dry away from the root giving more bounce.

Use dry shampoo on freshly washed hair.
Dry shampoo is a really great way to add weightless volume to the hair. When hair is freshly washed and dry, section along the root and apply my Cocolicious Dry Shampoo between each layer for the best results. The outcome is light and airy whilst still giving the look of thick, luscious locks.

Use a root concealer on the scalp.
Possibly my favourite tip for creating thicker looking hair is to use a root concealer on the scalp. Often hair can look thinner than it is if you can see your scalp, so darkening this to the colour of your root gives the illusion that there is more hair than there is. My Root Touch Up comes in 6 shades from light blonde to dark brunette. Select the one that matches your root or one that is slightly darker, section hair and spray lightly from a distance until the scalp is covered. It’s always best to start with less product and add more when needed. My Root Touch Up is waterproof but washes out easily the next time you shampoo and condition, making it ideal to use in this way.
